The 6th December saw Tillery Combat MMA travel to Hereford to compete in the Hereford Open Brazilian Jui Jitsu Championships With 9 adult fighters and 6 junior fighters it was going to be a busy day for coach Richard Shore. Leigh Atkins and Anthony Johnson both took Gold medals while Darrell James, John Price and Big Ryan Phelps all took Bronze. Kris Edwards, Shain Paul, Phil Moss and Paul James all put in excellent performances In action for the Junior team were Jack Shore, Dane Assirati, Nathan Rimes, Michael Jones, Lewis Prosser and Mathew Catlin. All 6 were making their debut in a Brazilian Jui Jitsu tournament. Between them they won 3 Gold Medals, 1 Silver Medal and 1 Bronze Medal. In total the adults and juniors took part in 55 bouts at the event Coach Richard Shore said "Yet again the team have put in an outstanding performance. We have shown this year that we can compete and be successful in a range of different martial arts competition. Special mention has to go to the junior team as four of them have only been training four months yet they had the courage to step up and compete against more experienced competitors." |
